Filling In The Gaps to Killer Results

Alright so you’ve crushed it with your nutrition and exercise, have gotten results, but still don’t seem to be happy.

You did all the things you THOUGHT you needed to do to be happy yet again… except one thing:

Mind-sets 😂

Ok but seriously… the part that tends to be left for last is the mindset. However, it’s probably the one thing that could change your outlook on nutrition, exercise, and goals as a whole from the very beginning.

Here’s an analogy for you… let’s think of a boat (because my MN heart is missing lakes). You’ve made sure it’s has fuel. You’ve gotten it all geared up to be able to catch ALL the fish.

After getting out to the middle of the lake you realize the crucial mistake when the boat won’t turn back on. You failed to check one thing… the battery!

Without this…

You. Are. Stuck.

Think the same way about a strong and confident mindset. Without it, you’re stuck. Without checking in periodically, you can be left stranded in the middle of an endeavor where everything else seemed to be going right.

It’s one thing to have the tools, the right ideas, and the capability to accomplish something. It it’s a whole new ballgame when you don’t have the mindset to believe yourself to finish it.

This has been me for the last year…unable to finish anything I’ve started.

Why? Because I don’t BELIEVE that I am deserving of success.

So how on earth do we move forward from here?

There’s a few things we can do… first and foremost:

Don’t stop…believing!

(No irony that the band’s name is Journey…none…)

Think about it, if you stop believing in yourself and the pursuits you want to get after, your journey has every right to be pissed at you! You are every bit deserving and worthy of accomplishing all that you want to do and who you want to be.

When you find yourself swimming at your own pity party, it is time to get real. Get out a piece of paper and write down ALL the things you are thinking right then and there. Then, read them out loud. The awkward part is not going to be reading out loud to yourself…the awkward part is going to be the words you say because deep down you know they aren’t true.

I recently wrote about this in an email I sent out to my tribe… I said out loud “I’ve let myself go.” It wasn’t pretty. There were ugly tears. But that’s ok… because action came from it. I am taking care of my body again. I am believing in myself again.

The next thing you need to do to build up your mind is to rid yourself of comparison.

Stop thinking about what/who you used to be and look at who you are today. If you continue to look at yourself from in the past that is where you will stay. Instead, see yourself as you are and accept it. Accept who you are and think of who you want to be tomorrow.

To keep your mind at its tip top strength, living today the way you want to be in the future is going to be the game changer. The only way that is going to happen is if you believe you are that person and you have let go who you were in the past… because that doesn’t matter anymore. The main focus needs to be on where you are headed.

The only thing comparison will do is hold you back. And let’s face it… nobody got time for that!

The final and debatably hardest thing to get a strong mind…

Stop trying so damn hard.

Believe it or not, you do NOT have to struggle day in and day out to achieve your goal. You do NOT have to do the same thing over and over again with no result. In fact, you don’t even have to try at all!

Say whaaaaat?

Let’s do a little exercise…

I want you to give yourself a high five. Go ahead. Give yourself a high five.

Now, I want you to NOT give yourself a high five. Pretty easy…

Alright, so now I want you to TRY give yourself a high five.

Did you do it? I’ll bet you just looked really silly sitting in front of your computer trying to give yourself a high five.

We all look that silly when we try to do the same thing over and over again with no result.

Stop trying and starting coming up with a better plan!

Is getting up at 4:00am to go workout not working for you? Then quit trying and find a different time to workout.

Is eating no carbs and hardly enough to feed a small child making you feel like garbage? Then stop trying and come up with a more sustainable way to eat.

Are you picking up what I’m throwing down?

I am giving you permission right here and now to STOP struggling your way to a goal. It doesn’t have to be that way. If something isn’t working, come up with a better plan!

Let’s recap…

Way to an unstoppable mindset:

  • Believe in yourself today and who you want to become.
  • Rid yourself of comparison…nobody has time for that.
  • Stop trying so damn hard!

With an unstoppable mind, the possibilities are endless. There won’t be dropping off part way through… there will only be killer results and ALL the good feels!

May the force be with you friends.
